Costume Mounting
Costume mounting is a unique course, truly one of its kind, only offered at FIT. This course introduced students to different styles of costume mounting from a fully realized mannequin to an invisible mount. Students were required to draw several garments from different decades to help them grasp various construction details and changes that can only be noted upon close examinations. For her fully realized mount, Parker and her partner chose a c. 1915 day suit. They constructed a body through padding out a mannequin and created a paper wig. For her final project and invisible mount, Parker and her partner chose a pair of stockings and a set of heeled shoes. They worked to create a pair of legs to hold up the stockings and shoes. Another part of the final was to create an exhibition the object and the mount would be featured in. This mount was easily one of her favorite projects to work on at FIT.
