History of Fashion Through the 20th Century

History of Fashion Through the 20th Century was one of Parker’s favorite classes. This class focused on the history of fashion starting in the late 19th century through to 2000. It focused on important designers, art movements that influence fashion, and countercultures that had formed. For the midterm, students were to work directly with an object and give historical context of the object, donor and maker if possible. Parker chose a dress that was dated c. 1903 and proved that it was more likely to have been from 1905 due to the sleeve shape. She deeply examined the points of fullness in sleeves that changed between those few short years. For her final paper for this class, Parker chose to focus on a designer by the name of Sydney Wragge of B.H. Wragge. This paper would ultimately lead to her focusing on the designer for her Qualifying Paper.
